Imagine Life Without Violence

The Northwestern Region funds the ILWV Anti-Human Trafficking Club Grant to assist clubs in starting or continuing community projects to raise awareness about sex trafficking of women and girls, with the goal of encouraging citizens, law makers and service providers to focus on this global problem. Projects could include:

  • Assisting a local shelter with domestic violence programs
  • Community forums – opening discussions on types of abuse, violence, harassment, and bullying
  • Classes for professionals and business leaders – trainings and materials covering workplace harassment and bullying
  • Community “kids days” – hosting a table which uses kid friendly ways to help children recognize or report violence, harassment, and bullying
  • Organizing a community workshop to engage groups (eg. men and boys, teens, or LGBTQ communities) regarding anti- violence programs.

What are Northwest Region clubs doing?

  • Funding part of costs and supplies for Dream It Be It and anti-human trafficking programs for over 200 attendees, helping them to recognize trafficking signs. Also included are mentor trainings for those interested.
  • Assembling baskets and educational materials for safe houses and shelters to assist women affected by sexual exploitation.
  • Bringing the SOLD experience (sex trafficking educational interactive exhibit) during their local community’s National Night Out.
  • Assisting rape and sex trafficking victims brought found by the FBI by giving them gift cards to purchase necessity items – clothing, food, and hygiene products.
  • Assisting prostitution and sexual abuse survivors with transportation and therapy sessions at a local shelter.

Grants are awarded annually in $250 increments ranging from $250 to $2,500. The number of awards given will be based on requested amounts, number of eligible projects and available funds.

Imagine Life Without Violence

Imagine what projects your club could bring to your community to give awareness about domestic violence, human trafficking, and sexual exploitation.

Imagine that your help could get a woman the counseling she needs to escape human trafficking.

Imagine that necessity materials your club puts together can help a woman and her family have a sense of normalcy
when they arrive at a domestic violence shelter.
